My Favorite Books of 2010

I read a lot in 2010, probably not as much as in 2009, or even 2008, but a lot! I discovered many new favorite authors, new favorite series, and tried out many different genres, etc. that I never thought I would read. In no certain order, here are my favorite books I read in 2010! (Related posts are linked on title.) I’m hoping to read much, much more in 2011!

After many months, I’ve newly designed bibliochic.com. Hope you like it! I tried to stay away from purple. If you know me in real life, purple is MY LIFE! I loved the last layout, but it was time for a change. I’m still working on tweaking this, but enjoy!

I haven’t forgotten about you, my adorable blog. I’m just too busy. With school, life, church, friends, people. Living it up! I have many reviews in my head that I haven’t shared here. I recently loved Kelley Armstrong’s Darkest Powers trilogy, as well as many other great books. I’ll be back soon. Promise.

An Update on Life, the Universe, and Everything

Clearly, I’ve been MIA for quite some time. It’s not that I haven’t had time to blog. It’s just that REAL LIFE has taken over my life, for real. I’ve been involved in some fantastic things lately, as well as school and work, and blogging has been the last thing on my mind. Plus, I haven’t much time to read anything. (Awful, I know!)

Unfortunately, I did not attend the annual ALA conference as I had planned. Circumstances did not line up for me, so I stayed home. I wish I could have attended, but that will have to wait for next year! From what I’ve seen on Twitter and the blogosphere, it was a spectacular time. I’m mainly sad I missed out on all the cool authors and loads of freebies (I love freebies!).

I think I’ll be blogging about some books soon. I’ve been checking out ebooks on my iPod touch lately, and that has worked well with my busy schedule. I’ve finished Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr recently and absolutely loved it. I wasn’t sure when I started it, but by the end I was dying for more. I’m also in the middle of My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares. If you’ve read her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, you’ll be completely surprised by this one–except, then you’re not. The story is very different from her normal style, but the writing is still very her. I enjoy her low-key, simple and calm, yet lovely way of writing.

So that’s where I’m at. I’m still in school. Still working. Still reading when I can. What are you up to readers?

It’s amazing how smart spam has become these days! I check my spam filter for comments on bibliochic regularly, and it’s always filled with deceptively smart spam comments. Comments that I may be led to believe are by real readers! But sadly, they are not. Every once in awhile (a great while) a real comment gets caught in the spam filter, but for the most part, the spam filter does it’s job.

Why am I writing about spam? Because, sadly, I have nothing better to write about. I haven’t had time to read any YA books. I haven’t had time to keep up with any YA blogs. I have no clue which new YA books are out and about now. It’s horrific! But I’ll get caught up later this month–I promise!

School has been kicking my butt big time this week, but thankfully, my classes this term are over as of Friday. Starting in mid-April I will be taking a library management course. Check here next week as I’ll give an overview of some of the classes I participated in this semester and some of the interesting projects I had to complete.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians Contest

I am giving away a signed copy of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, in honor of the movie release this month. I was lucky enough to get this copy quite some time ago. However, the book is in excellent condition, and signed by author Rick Riordan.

We are now up to 10 subscribers–hooray! (7 on RSS and 3 on Google, not counting me on Google!). Keep ‘em coming! I hope that people enjoy this blog. I try to be fun, really! And I hope that I can provide people with the latest YA news, plus also insightful commentary on teens today.

And just a reminder, I am still looking for interviewees! I have one volunteer already, so spread the word. I’m very interested in this project as a semi-new blogger myself, and as someone that would like to work with teens in the future. I am looking for:

New Year, New Layout
